Thomas A. Boyd, Jr.

Mr. Boyd was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Boyd graduated from Florida State University Business School in 1985 with a degree in Risk Management. He received his law degree from Cumberland Law School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1988. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Boyd returned to Jacksonville to begin his legal career. Over the past 27 years, Mr. Boyd has handled almost exclusively admiralty and maritime cases. Mr. Boyd has handled a wide range of admiralty and maritime cases, ranging from injured seaman, longshoreman, passengers and recreational boaters to vessels that have been damaged, the arrest of vessels for maritime liens of all types, seaman's injury claims, salvage claims, and cargo damage claims.

Mr. Boyd is Board Certified by the Florida Bar Association as a specialist in Admiralty and Maritime Law and Member of the Admiralty and Maritime Certification Committee of the Florida Bar, and Past Chairman of the Board Certification Committee.

Mr. Boyd is admitted to practice in all of the Federal and State Courts in the State of Florida, that includes twenty State Circuit Courts, and the Federal District Courts in the Southern District, the Middle District and the Northern District of Florida. Mr. Boyd is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association, The Florida Bar Association, and the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. Mr. Boyd has spoken to the Admiralty Section of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America annual meeting, the Jacksonville Bar Admiralty section and at numerous other maritime conferences.

Mr. Boyd is an active member of Beach United Methodist Church and has held many leadership positions over the years. He was on the Board of Directors for the First Coast Family Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse for 10 years and served as Board President for 2 years. Mr. Boyd has been married to Missy Boyd for the past 23 years and together have 5 children. In his spare time, Mr. Boyd enjoys coaching his sons in little league baseball and fishing with his kids.
