Boyd Maritime Law

Jones Act seamen are entitled to unearned wages when they are injured or become sick while working on the vessel. Unearned wages are exactly what they sound like, you get the wages even though you have not earned them. For example, if you are working on a 60 day contract, and you get hurt on the 30th day, you are entitled to another 30 days for the wages that you did not earn but that you could not earn because you are out of work sick or hurt. Sometimes there is a difference between the number of days on your contract, and the number of days for a given voyage. This gets  complicated and you should call Boyd Law, PA to determine if you are entitled to unearned wages or not.
